Dr. Robert Cannon has a degree in Literature and Philosophy and a Ph.D. from London University. Until 1997 he was
Vice-Principal of Rose Bruford College who made him an Honorary Fellow in 2005. He was responsible for designing a range of specialist degrees in theatre and starting what is still the only degree in Opera Studies in the world, validated by the University of Manchester.
Dr. Cannon has also lectured for the Royal Opera House. Together with this specialism he lectures in art, music, literature and the history of ideas. He has written for Opera Magazine, Opera Now and the BBC Music Magazine and translates poetry and plays from Italian, German, French and Greek, some of which are published by Methuen and were recently performed in London.
